Equal Rights Heritage Center
The New York State Equal Rights Heritage Center engaged LáLew Public Relations for a six-month campaign with the goal of raising awareness of their Harriet Tubman bicentennial celebration. The celebration included promotion of the Harriet Tubman traveling exhibition, Ted Freeman Homecoming event, and Harriet Tubman mural unveiling. To reach targeted audiences and increase the appeal of the center’s messaging, extensive research and categorization went into the curated media list. Through selective pitching, 34 national and global placements in a 16-week time period were secured.
To achieve that success, LáLew wrote seven tailored press releases and pitched 200+ television, print, and digital news sources. Those tailored messages showed our commitment to appealing to journalists by approaching them with angles in line with their respective focuses. That method created a more personalized pitch for each source LáLew pitched, rather than a more generalized, “spray and pray” technique.
Our client's work was featured on ABC News, World News Tonight, Yahoo News, regional New York television, radio, and newspapers.
In all, LáLew helped the ERHC hit 3.4 billion in impressions, receiving a PRism Award for Media Relations in 2023 for this success.
